We are currently looking for an Early Careers Recruitment Specialist to join our team in Exeter.

You will be responsible for the effective delivery of our Early Careers recruitment across our 8 office locations in the South West, recruiting people into our trainee accountancy apprenticeships, summer placements and work experience whilst maintaining the highest possible candidate experience. 


  • Work proactively with Hiring Managers and Regional People Manager to manage all Early Careers recruitment activity – Apprenticeships, summer placements and work experience
  • Be the main point of contact for candidates, the business and third parties regarding early careers recruitment
  • Work to enhance the firms brand so potential candidates are aware and attracted to our firm
  • Run an efficient and robust selection process so that we hire the right people across the firm

Brand awareness & attraction

  • Market expert - know the student market, school, colleges and universities in our locations and competitor activity
  • Attraction initiatives – coordinates, advertises, attends and presents where required at schools, colleges and university activities such as fairs, presentations and social media
  • Sources and briefs colleagues for recruitment events or social media
  • University management – build strong relationships with the careers services, relevant societies, ambassadors to ensure that we are represented in the best possible way
  • Social media – responsible for all Early Careers social media engagement


  • Pipeline – proactively manage your candidate pipelines so that applicants are progressed well and positions are filled in good time. Ensure you are the go to person for candidates
  • Writing and posting job adverts and managing any queries resulting from these
  • Applications and shortlisting – review applications in a timely, consistent and robust manner, ensuring that shortlisting is carried out is fair and consistent and that feedback is given to all candidates that have been interviewed. Administration of psychometric and/ or other tests when required
  • Interviews – Arranging and conducting telephone interviews as part of our selection process
  • Assessments – organise and deliver robust candidates assessments centres. Source business assessors, confirms the candidates, organises logistics and all relevant paperwork and materials for the day
  • Business assessors – run assessor briefings and create and maintain robust assessor lists
  • Decision making – lead the debrief decision meeting so that there is a fair and consistent process and great hiring decisions are made by the business
  • Deliver coaching and high quality feedback to candidates so they have received value from participating in our process and have a strong candidate experience
  • Ensure that all offers of employment are handled in a professional and timely manner


  • Work with the wider People team and business to ensure a seamless handover of joiners
  • Manage a strong pre-joining plan so that all new hires are engaged with the firm before they join. Leverage contacts to enhance the brand of the firm
  • Maintain a strong relationship with the new starter so that we glean feedback to improve our service and ensure you build your network


  • Manage the summer internship programme so there is a strong pipeline to the graduate programme and it enhances our brand
  • Updating reporting and monthly management information packs
  • Undertakes other projects as required
  • Proactive management of recruitment queries and the management of the recruitment inbox
  • Ensuring that our applicant tracking system (ATS) is kept up to date at all times and all administration associated with this (rejections, interview invitations, room bookings, contracts etc.)
  • GDPR compliance at all times

Knowledge, skills and attributes

  • Previous recruitment experience from either an in-house environment or agency background is preferable
  • Knowledge of graduate/ school leaver recruitment cycle and apprenticeships
  • Excellent project co-ordination skills with the ability to prioritise effectively
  • Strong administrative skills and high attention to detail
  • The ability to prioritise and meet deadlines in a busy working environment with possible conflicting priorities
  • Excellent customer service skills whilst understanding the importance of confidentiality and diplomacy at all times
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, confident at building relationships at all levels
  • Excellent organisational, IT and administrative skills
  • A good eye for detail, presentation and overall high work standards
  • Committed and hardworking attitude; able to organise oneself and deliver results

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Previous experience of working with professional services although this is not essential
  • Knowledge of ATS software including eArcu
  • Experience of direct sourcing candidates and high volume recruitment campaigns
  • An understanding of recruitment/employment law and GDPR
  • A full driving license 

Qualifications and education

  • You will ideally be educated to degree level (or equivalent)
  • At least 3 A Levels (or equivalent) grades A-C
  • GCSE’s A-C including Maths and English
